The Standard Group has responded defiantly to KOLLEA News' campaign highlighting alleged staff injustices, dismissing the concerns cheekily with a brief social media message declaring: "Facts don't fear the spotlight."
The message, shared on the company's official social media platforms on Saturday July 18, 2026, was accompanied by an image of Standard Group's headquarters illuminated by a spotlight—an indirect response to KOLLEA News' ongoing campaign, "Standard Group Must Stop Staff Injustice."
Social Media 'Response'
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Standard Group posted an indirect response to KOLLEA News' campaign on alleged staff injustices, declaring: "Facts do not fear the spotlight."
The post has sparked fresh questions, with critics arguing that it appears to trivialize longstanding allegations of workers' rights violations at the media house rather than address the issues raised.
The campaign, launched in early July, seeks to expose what KOLLEA News describes as persistent labour injustices at the media house, including a salary crisis that has stretched for more than three years.
Announcing the campaign, KOLLEA Editor Kizito Namulanda stated:
"KOLLEA HUB is launching sustained, detailed coverage, analysis, opinions and commentaries on this matter under the banner 'STANDARD GROUP MUST STOP STAFF INJUSTICE,' beginning Monday, July 6, 2026. A time has come when journalism must save journalists. Stay tuned as we shine the spotlight on Standard Group."
The initiative is anchored on a dedicated section of www.kolleanews.com titled "Shining the Spotlight on Standard Group, where the staff salary crisis has lasted for three years." The page features an illustration of the company's headquarters under a spotlight, surrounded by investigative documents and a magnifying glass, symbolising continued scrutiny of the company's workplace practices.

Standard Group's response appears intended to challenge the campaign's narrative. However, it also raises an obvious question:
If facts do not fear the spotlight, what are the facts?

The allegations documented by KOLLEA News go beyond isolated workplace grievances. They include claims of prolonged salary delays, unpaid employee dues, disputed terminations, and other alleged violations of workers' rights.
These are not merely uncomfortable allegations. They concern issues that employees and labour advocates say amount to unfair, inhumane and, where applicable, unlawful treatment of workers.
Against that backdrop, Standard Group's dismissive response has drawn fresh questions about the company's willingness to engage with the substance of the allegations rather than its public image.
Whether the company chooses to address the issues publicly or not, the central question remains: Will Standard Group respond to the evidence behind the campaign, or only to the spotlight itself?
